Membership at Bridge isn\u2019t like a traditional newspaper subscription. It\u2019s a community.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Your contribution is a tangible commitment to a shared set of values about what journalism should be: nonpartisan and fact-driven. Join the thousands of engaged readers who share this vision. The growing investment of our members allows Bridge to continue to expand and provide you the in-depth coverage you\u2019ve come to expect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Contributions to Bridge Michigan are tax deductible. All contributions of $1 or more qualify the donor for Bridge Club membership for 365 days. Bridge Club members receive a variety of benefits associated with their membership level. To see a full list of these benefits, visit our donation page here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Membership levels are calculated on an annual basis. For example, if you choose to pay $10 per month, you\u2019ll be considered a Silver Member ($100+ donated annually) and will receive all the benefits of that tier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Is my donation tax-deductible?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yes! All donations to the Bridge Michigan are tax-deductible. Bridge is a publication of The Center for Michigan, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is the difference between a subscription and a membership?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bridge Michigan does not have a paid subscription model. Anyone can subscribe to our email newsletters for free by visiting https:\/\/www.bridgemi.com\/signup<\/a>. Bridge members are individuals who make a tax-deductible donation of any amount in the last 365 days to support our nonprofit newsroom. Unsubscribing from Bridge\u2019s email newsletters does not cancel a recurring donation. To make changes to a sustaining donation, please contact membership@bridgemi.com<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is a sustaining membership?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A sustaining membership means your donation recurs automatically on a monthly or yearly basis via credit card. This provides Bridge with the sort of predictable revenue that allows us to plan budgets a few years at a time, and it helps eliminate renewal notices or lapses in your membership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How can I renew my membership?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sustaining memberships automatically renew on a monthly or yearly basis. Members who made a one-time donation will receive email notifications when their membership renewal date is approaching. If you need to update your billing information, or your membership is up for renewal soon, please contact membership@bridgemi.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How do I make changes to my recurring donation?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Can I make a qualified charitable distribution (QCD) to Bridge?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A qualified charitable distribution (QCD) allows individuals who are 70\u00bd years old or older to donate up to $100,000 total to one or more charities directly from a taxable IRA instead of taking their required minimum distributions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Can I donate shares of stock to Bridge Michigan?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Donating appreciated stock is easy and may have significant tax benefits for you. Please check with your tax advisor. When you\u2019re ready, please email membership@bridgemi.com<\/a> for instructions about how to have your broker transfer the shares to the Center for Michigan brokerage account at Huntington National Bank. Stock transfers often arrive without the donor\u2019s contact information, so please also send an email to membership@bridgemi.com<\/a> to notify us when the stock has been transferred and share your contact information so we may promptly send an acknowledgment and a tax receipt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Can I make a donation that can be split between Bridge Michigan and BridgeDetroit?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yes! Bridge Michigan and BridgeDetroit are editorially independent newsrooms with independent budgets but share a parent organization, The Center for Michigan. If you make a donation to either, simply email membership@bridgemi.com<\/a> to share the amount you’d like allocated to each newsroom and our accounting team will split the donation according to your request.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
